Background information
Non-CD4+ T cells are indirectly magnetically labeled by using a cocktail of biotin-conjugated antibodies and Anti-Biotin MicroBeads. Highly pure untouched CD4+ T cells are obtained by depletion of the magnetically labeled cells.
Untouched CD4+ T cells may also be used for further isolation of specific T cell subsets. The CD4+CD25+ Regulatory T Cell Isolation Kit is recommended for most convenient separation of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells. Furthermore, the CD4+ T Cell Isolation Kit can be used in combination with CD95-PE and Anti-PE MicroBeads to isolate naive CD4+ T cells from non-human primate PBMCs. A special protocol for this application is available.
Downstream applications
T cells isolated with the CD4+ T Cell Isolation Kit are used when direct labeling of T cell surface molecules could interfere with downstrem applications, e.g., in studies on T helper cell activation.
